LANIGAN — The Lanigan Hospital is seeing a temporary reduction in service.
Effective Nov. 30, the alternate level of care beds have been closed temporarily.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said the decision was made due to active COVID-19 activity in the area, staffing challenges in Lanigan and required redeployment of health care providers to other health services.
Alternate level of care is the term used by the province to describe all patients who have completed the acute care phase of treatment – the active but short-term period of care after a serious injury or an episode of illness – and are still in the hospital waiting to be transferred to a different care setting or sent home.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said patients affected by the closure will be temporarily relocated to appropriate facilities in the area as beds become available.
In the event of an emergency, the authority said to call 9-1-1 or visit the emergency department in Humboldt, Watrous or Wynyard. Non-urgent health related questions can be directed to the provincial HealthLine by calling 8-1-1.
