The City of North Battleford says the recently-amended Traffic Bylaw provisions impacting heavy-haul vehicles will come into effect July 15.
On that date, trucks with a gross vehicle weight of more than 47,000 kg must stick to the Heavy Vehicle Route - Territorial Drive, Battleford Road, Parsons Industrial Park, and Highway 16. Those exceeding that weight must obtain a permit before travelling off the established trucking route.
Those truckers requiring a permit are encouraged to purchase the daily, seasonal or annual heavy haul permits at City Hall. An online payment option is also to be set up at the City's website www.cityofnb.ca.
Fines for not having a heavy haul permit (if required) start at $1,000. North Battleford special constables, as well as the RCMP, are equipped with portable weigh scales to enforce the bylaw.
