Keith Anderson attended the City of North Battleford council meeting Monday to provide the city an update on the progress of the CUPlex construction project.
As of July 16, the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts is mostly complete. The carpeting and theatre rigging have both been completed, and construction is currently working on installing the sound system, doing electrical work and installing acoustic panels. Outside the theatre, work is mostly focused on sidewalks, landscaping and irrigation.
In the next week, the facility is expected to have the acoustic panels fully installed and complete the architectural deficiency list. Substantial completion, at the time the report was issued, was pending review of mechanical components and should be given soon. A total of $12.7 million of work has been done on the facility so far.
The Co-op Aquatics Centre is also looking close to complete. According to the report, site landscaping and tiling are both finished, and the workers are currently working on cleaning up items on the architectural deficiency list. In order to correct some problems that had arisen with the concrete, the main tank had been drained and re-tiled recently. The mechanical room is expected to be finished soon. A total of $18.3 million of work has been done on the facility so far.
The report from the Northland Power Curling Centre and the BTC Field House were both dated July 11. The curling rink is expected to be substantially completed July 24, with workers mostly doing final cleanup. Remaining work included cleaning up deficiencies, completing the wood soffit at the front entrance, completing pipe insulation in the boiler room and shortening the administration counter to be more child-friendly. A total of $7.8 million of work has been done on the facility to date.
The BTC Field House will be the last component to be completed, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 30. A great deal of work needs to be done on the facility before it will be substantially completed. The main electrical service must be completed, gravel preparation must be completed, drywall must be completed on the stairwells, the structural steel must be painted, and plumbers must finish work on gas lines and roof drains for the facility. The bleachers also require work before they can be installed.
An estimated total of $7.6 million has been done on the field house to date.
