NIPAWIN — The Town of Nipawin is dealing with some unpleasantness in recycling bins
“The inappropriate items which we continue to find in the blue recycle bins throughout town: carcasses of cats and dogs and geese and toilets and used tissues and all sorts of things,” said Rennie Harper, Nipawin’s mayor, at the Oct. 11 council meeting. “You wouldn’t want to touch it and somebody does have to sort through that.”
After collection, the recycling is sorted and separated by hand.
According to Barry Elliott, the town’s administrator, there are better options for disposing of carcasses.
“Historically you could double-bag it and put it into your household garbage,” Elliott said. “That’s what vet clinics do too – not talking about horses and cows.”
