North Battleford city council has unanimously passed a new resolution on rates at the Co-op Aquatic Centre.
But there really was not much new ground covered, as councillors voted last September to approve both the rate structure and the proposed operating budget of the facility.
The latest resolution, which approved the proposed rental rates effective the opening day of the facility, and the definitions sheet showing the formulas establishing the rates, easily passed council Monday night.
The issue was up for discussion at the previous council meeting in February, but the final vote was put off to Monday, as councillors wanted to see a comparison of the new rates to those at the existing Kinsmen Aquatic Centre. City administration provided that information at Monday's meeting.
Among the highlights of the rate structure: those age two and under will continue to be admitted free, but preschoolers between three and five, previously free, will now pay $3.
The price of admission for children ages six to 12 will be for $4 (a rise of 25 cents), for students and seniors $5 (up 75 cents), for adults $7 (up $1.75), and the family rate will be $20 (up $7.75).
Swim lesson rates will remain largely unchanged except for the family rate, which rises from $140 to $157. Preschool rates are set at $53, 40-minute lessons at $58, and hour lessons at $61.
Most of the rate comparison provided to council was approved at the Sept. 26 meeting. The additional information provided Monday included rates for three-month, six-month and year passes at the new facility. One of those new rates, according to facilities manager Bill Samborski is a new corporate rate initiative that is being promoted as a way to increase the 'affordability' potential for the facility.
Companies and businesses would be able to purchase passes for their employees for a reduced rate, he explained, with a "10 per cent discount for those passes."
