'Armed' and' dangerous' suspect evading police arrested

NIPAWIN — Update: Matthew Barker has been arrested.

Saskatchewan RCMP continues to ask for the public’s assistance locating Matthew Barker, who may be armed and is considered dangerous.

RCMP say that if you see him, contact police or call 911, but do not approach him.

Barker is wanted on warrants from the Nipawin RCMP, Tisdale RCMP, Hudson Bay RCMP and Swan River RCMP.

His charges include dangerous operation of a conveyance, failure to stop while being pursued by a police officer and trafficking stolen property. Background is available from the RCMP.

Officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team and Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team, Manitoba RCMP’s Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, along with officers from numerous detachments, are actively trying to locate and arrest him. Investigation has determined he is actively evading police.

Matthew Barker may be in Saskatchewan or Manitoba. He is from the Swan River, Man., area and frequently travels to the Nipawin, Tisdale and Hudson Bay area, though his current whereabouts are unknown.

He is described as five foot eleven and approximately 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on his forearms and a large tattoo on his neck.
