This is something you don't see every day: a long line of tanks, vehicles and military equipment in North Battleford. But that is exactly what the scene was Monday afternoon as the Canadian Armed Forces stopped their caravan in the community.
Members of the armed forces said they had been spending their day transporting the tanks and other military vehicles from Canadian Forces Base Edmonton in that city's north end, to their final destination at Dundurn south of Saskatoon. The equipment will be put to use in training exercises there.
While the military vehicles and tanks aren't seen frequently in North Battleford, they have been known to show up from time to time as the military uses Highway 16 to transport equipment between the two bases.
The tanks were parked on the road across from Domino's Pizza/Taco Time and were in easy proximity to the Tim Hortons located across the street. North Battleford proved a welcome rest spot for members of the Canadian Armed Forces, who could be seen enjoying Tims coffee to help them stay warm on a cold afternoon.
