The Battlefords North Stars are saying goodbye to assistant coach Rob Holoien.

It was announced Thursday that Holoien has decided not to stay on with the club for the next season. Holoien had been with the club since the Canalta Cup-winning run of 2018-19.

On Friday came news that Holoien was named head coach of the Carrot River Outback Thunder for the upcoming season, where he served as an assistant coach prior to joining the North Stars. In a news release, the Thunder stated "we believe Holoien's experience and growth with the Battlefords and under championship winning GM/Head Coach Brayden Klimosko will be a priceless addition to our organization."

Head coach Klimosko issued this statement:

“Bobby had been a huge part of our success the past few years. He’s the best assistant coach in the league. Bobby’s passion and care for his players is top notch. Finding an adequate replacement to fill the shoes of Bobby is going to be tough to find. Expect a job posting in the next week or two. I would like to wish Rob all the best in his future.”
