North Battleford City Manager Jim Toye has been recognized by his peers for long municipal service.

Toye was recognized by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators with a Long Service Recognition Award for 25 years of municipal service in a management capacity.

He also received a Distinguished Service Award for being in the position of chief administrative officer or city manager for 25 years or more as well as for being a longstanding member of CAMA.

The awards were presented at the annual CAMA conference held last week.

Toye has been the city manager in North Battleford for 12 years and had previously served as town administrator in Kindersley and Leader. He was also assistant town administrator in Unity.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Toye expressed gratitude for the help he's received along the way.

"It has been a very rewarding career," said Toye. "I've always had mentors and colleagues to keep me going - helping me over the hurdles."

He also expressed his gratitude for his one-year term as president of CAMA, which recently concluded.

"It was a humbling experience to represent 500 city managers from across Canada as the president of CAMA. Canada is well known throughout the world as having well educated, knowledgeable and professional municipal administrators."
