An Estevan man accused of possessing and distributing child porn had an appearance in Estevan Provincial Court Oct. 27. The court ordered a bail verification report on Kyle Mansil Fiddler, 30, who remains in custody.
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) launched an investigation in August after getting numerous complaints that someone was making child porn available through several different social media platforms. On Oct. 21 the ICE unit and Estevan Police Services executed a search warrant at a residence in Estevan, which was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Police say they found child porn at the residence and seized a cell phone and computer for further forensic analysis.
Fiddler was arrested and charged with possession of child porn, transmitting child porn, and failing to comply with an order of prohibition.
The ICE unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
Fiddler has a show cause hearing scheduled on Nov. 2 in Estevan Provincial Court.
