Battleford election: Ames Leslie declared mayor

Battleford's election results are in and Ames Leslie has been unofficially declared mayor with 680 votes. Challenging Leslie in the mayor's race was David George, who received 347 votes.

Battleford's election results are in and Ames Leslie has been unofficially declared mayor with 680 votes. Challenging Leslie in the mayor's race was David George, who received 347 votes.

Joining Leslie at the six open council seats are incumbent candidates Shelley Boutin-Gervais who received 577, Doug Laing with 712 votes, Susan McLean Tady with 663 and Gordon Yarde with 576. The two remaining council seats go to the newly elected candidates Judy Pruden, who was the top vote-getter with 722, and Kevin Russell, with 695 votes.

Also running for council were Kirby Arbeau, who had 376 votes, and Ken Chartier, who came close to the last council spot with 563 votes.

In total there were 1033 votes cast, however six ballots were spoiled and could not be counted. The election winners will be sworn in at the next regular town council meeting Nov. 7
