Battleford, North Battleford closed to honour the Queen

The Town of Battleford has confirmed that Town Hall is closed Monday.

BATTLEFORD — Thetown of Battleford is closed for business Monday in recognition of the National Day of Mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.

According to their post of Facebook, the town is closed Monday in observance of the federal holiday to mark the passing of the Queen. That also means the regular town council meeting scheduled for Monday has been postponed by one day.

Arena bookings are not affected by the closure and will continue as normal. According to the town, all departments will be back open for normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

At a special meeting last week, the city of North Battleford also confirmed they were recognizing Monday as a staff holiday in recognition of the National Day of Mourning.

City Hall, along with many city facilities including the waste management facility, are closed and waste pickup moves to Tuesday, Sept. 20. A Planning Committee meeting scheduled for Monday was also cancelled. Arena bookings previously scheduled at the city's rinks will still proceed as booked.
