BBEX finalists announced

Finalists have been announced in the categories for this year's Battlefords Business Excellence Awards.

A total of 19 nominees have been announced in the six competitive categories with the business of the year category featuring two nominees: Scott Campbell Dodge Ltd. and WPD Ambulance.

In the Micro Business category, the lone nomination went to Chrysalis Yoga.

Nominated in the community contribution category are BMO Bank of Montreal, Battlefords Agricultural Society, Gold Eagle Lodge, M and M Meat Shops and WPD Ambulance.

McGuffy's News Inc. and Norsask Farm Equipment Ltd. are the candidates in the marketing category.

In customer service, the five nominees are Battlefords Animal Hospital, Bernier Construction and Design Ltd., Brio Boutique, Dairy Queen and Gold Eagle Lodge.

In new business venture the nominees are Battlefords Animal Hospital, Brio Boutique, Oil Can Charlie's Ltd. and Shared Secrets Top Trends and Leisure.

The seventh category, the Heritage Award, is the only one in which the recipient is announced prior to the BBEX Awards event. The recipient for 2012 is Maher Travel (1982) Ltd.

Nominees were announced Aug.29.

This is the 19th year for the BBEX awards and this year the event has been moved to the fall after several years as a spring event. All awards are to be presented at a gala evening, Oct. 2 at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts in North Battleford.
