Bear spray incident leads to arrest

A 19-year-old man is among a number of people arrested following a report of an alleged assault with bear spray at a business.

The incident was alleged to have happened Saturday, March 1 around 5:07 a.m. According to Battlefords RCMP, members responded to a business on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford and arrested a number of people.

Police say a 19-year is in custody and faces assault and weapons charges. The man has since been released, but was due to appear in provincial court in North Battleford Wednesday afternoon.

Also in custody are two youths for outstanding warrants, and police say one will also be charged with failure to comply with court-ordered conditions. An investigation into the alleged bear spray incident is ongoing.
