The Battlefords' Best Business Showcase is a go for the fall of 2013.

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce, who is organizing the event, officially announced it is going ahead from Thursday, Oct. 24 to Saturday, Oct. 26 at the CUPlex field house.

The event is being held during the tail end of Small Business Week in Canada, and is being promoted as a way to celebrate and showcase businesses in the Battlefords and in the Northwest.

Plans to put on a Best Business Showcase event were in the works for a while. The Chamber had previously announced plans last spring to put on the Best Business Showcase event in October 2012 at the field house.

However, those plans went by the wayside once it became obvious the field house would not be open in time.

Now that the venue is ready to open March 5, it is full steam ahead for preparations for the fall event.

"The best is yet to come," said showcase chair Anderson in a statement Monday. "We hope everyone will plan to come out, see the field house and what is great about the Battlefords business community."

According to a Chamber news release, committees are in place and planning is underway, with Anderson having sent first notifications to members.

Full event packages are to be sent to Battlefords Chamber of Commerce members to allow them first choice selection of booth locations and advertising opportunities. After an early bird date of April 15, if any booth spaces remain available the showcase will be open to all local and regional businesses who wish to take part.

About 150 exhibitor spaces are available, according to the Chamber. The Chamber also says they are planning a primary daily prize for one attendee, a stage area that will feature well-known talent and exhibits, as well as products and services for viewing.
