Maidstone RCMP would like to make people aware of the increase in telephone scams or frauds. RCMP are urging people to be cautious when dealing with people over the phone who are asking for money or personal and banking information.

RCMP are urging people to be cautious when dealing with people over the phone who are asking for money or personal and banking information.

"If you suspect a phone call to be a scam, record the phone number that appears, time and date of call and the nature of the call," advises Cst. C.A. Fillion

The RCMP encourage all who receive a fax, e-mail or letter of this sort not to respond to it, but to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at www.phonebusters.com ( http://www.phonebusters.com/ ) or 1(888)495-8501.
