June 2 is going to be a fun filled day for the ladies of Humboldt and area with the fourth annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Diva for a Day golf tournament.
This year’s theme is Rodeo Drive and while teams are not required to dress up, golfing in their best costumes are encouraged, says Jodie Hergott, development coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt.
While the tournament is maxed out with 18 teams signed up for the day, says Hergott, they are always looking for more potential caddies to help out and have some fun. For anyone who wants to volunteer, it is a lot of fun.
“You don’t have to be a professional or avid golfer to be a caddy by any means. You just have to have a really good sense of humor, enjoy being outside for a couple hours, and love to laugh.”
Keeping with the theme, ladies will be treated to a sarsaparilla with their supplied breakfast. The caddy auction and Misty Gardens flower basket auction will follow before they hit the fairways for nine holes of golf with cart, lunch, and supper provided.
Many local businesses have gotten behind the tournament with something fun for the teams at each of the holes.
Teams then get to cap off the day with the silent auction and raffles, as well as something new this year with the 50/50 golf ball drop.
Participants and members of the public will be able to purchase numbered golf balls which will be dropped by members of the Humboldt Fire Department from their ladder truck. Closest number to the pin wins the money, says Hergott.
Tickets will also be available for a $1,000 Stay and Play package from Candle Lake that is being raffled off by the Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Humboldt and District Kinettes.
