Big gain in permit values in October

The City of North Battleford continues to be far ahead of 2010's numbers in terms of permit values for the year 2011.

The City of North Battleford continues to be far ahead of 2010's numbers in terms of permit values for the year 2011.

In total, 13 permits were issued in September for a total permit value of $14,060,000, compared to 17 issued for only $1,991,800 for the same month in 2010.

For the year through September 107 permits have been issued for $70,328,600, compared to 122 issued for $35,880,300 last year.

Part of the reason for the huge spike in September values was the one new institutional permit for $11,164,000, issued for the field house component of the Credit Union CUPlex. That compared to nil in the same category in September 2010.

As well, one new condo permit was issued for $1,746,000, but no new dwelling permits were issued for the month. Three commercial alterations were issued for $611,000. Again, those categories all compared to nil in 2010.

The remaining permits included one for a garage/carport for $10,000, four residential alterations for $40,000, one new commercial permit for $50,000, one institutional alteration for $417,000 and one sign permit for $22,000.

As far as the year to date is concerned, most of the permit value increase is made up of four new institutional permits for $50,178,000.

The numbers were submitted by building inspector Jerry Wintonyk to North Battleford's municipal committee meeting Monday night.
