It did not take long for the City of North Battleford to find a replacement for Keith Anderson as director of parks and recreation.

The City also did not need to look very far, as they have turned to 20-year City employee Bill Samborski to take over the role.

He officially starts his new position Jan. 1, but has been serving as the acting director since July when Anderson went on medical leave.

Samborski is already a familiar and well-known figure in the department, having served previously as general manager of facilities and as swimming pool manager prior to that. Samborski has been with the Parks And Recreation Department in various capacities since 1992.

His promotion quickly fills the vacancy announced the week before when Anderson announced his retirement.

In a statement, City Manager Jim Toye called Samborski a "welcome addition to the senior management team."

"Bill prides himself in serving the public, empowering staff and functioning as a strategic thinker," said Toye.

In a statement Samborski expressed gratitude over his new role.

"I am excited to be a part of this team, and thankful to be given the opportunity to share our collective visions of service and capacity to the residents of North Battleford, and visitors to our community," said Samborski.
