Fifty individuals gathered in the Blaine Lake Composite School gymnasium to celebrate Blaine Lake's 64th consecutive Remembrance Day service since the ending of World War II.

The Honour Guard consisted of Cst. Kari Redlich, Weslie Nemish and Anthony Laughren. Upon the entrance of the colour party, everyone rose and remained standing for the singing of O Canada accompanied by Vanessa Horner on piano.

Chairperson Vivian Nemish acknowledged World War Two veteran Raymond Bold who was in attendance, before presenting the opening remarks.

Pastor Kevin Koop pronounced the opening prayer, followed by Kitty Larson presenting greetings on behalf of the Town of Blaine Lake.

Michael Horner and Jennifer Weber recited the roll call honoring veterans from 1914-1918 and 1939-1945, respectively.

Community associations and business representatives had the opportunity to lay the wreaths prior to The Last Post.

A PowerPoint presentation compiled by Garrett Woytiuk was presented. The presentation was a collection of photographs depicting the soldiers and war. The Honour Guard led the guests to the cenotaph for a brief service and the laying of the wreaths.

Everyone was invited to reunite at the gymnasium for a light lunch and fellowship.

The service continues to grow in attendance annually and it was refreshing to see the many young individuals taking an interest in participating and attending the service. Congratulations to the Remembrance Day committee organizers for providing an opportunity for the community to honour the veterans and share in a time of fellowship and reminiscing.
