July 27, 28, and 29 was the weekend the Blanchette families gathered in Meota for their 8th family Reunion. They meet every 5 years- same location, same weekend.

The three-day reunion was a great time to renew family friendships and enjoy the visiting with some long lost cousins.

People came from as far west as the B.C. coast, and from Montreal and Toronto.

Even with the extreme heat, heavy downpour and thunderstorm, we had a good turnout and lots of fun!

Friday evening was filled with visiting and registration and a live band playing in the background proved to be enjoyable.

Saturday morning golfing and children's crafts were blessed with a beautiful day. Mass in Vawn in the afternoon was well attended. The banquet saw over 250 relatives, with the oldest guest at 95 years.

Danny and the Dusters played excellent music, getting everyone on their feet to party late into the evening.

Sunday morning started with a pancake breakfast cooked by one of our own talented families.

Karen Woloshyn, Blanchette Association president reports that its been over 100 years since the Blanchettes settled in Saskatchewan.

She went on to say the hospitality of Meota, the co-operation of Meota merchants, the regional park and Cando Catering, made it easier to organize another successful weekend. Karen states that parting ways Sunday was difficult, but there is a promise that in five years we will be back to do it again.
