Bogus business proposition warning

RCMP are warning rural residents of a possible business proposition scam being put forward by what witnesses describe as an elderly gentleman.

RCMP are warning rural residents of a possible business proposition scam being put forward by what witnesses describe as an elderly gentleman.

Maidstone RCMP say there have been reports of an elderly gentleman approaching residents in the rural area with business propositions that involve the residents providing large sums of money up front in exchange for natural medical supplies that will be available some time in the near future.

Police say these propositions always involve the gentleman obtaining a sum of money from a member of the public in order to withdraw a much larger sum of money from a bank at some distant location.

The RCMP advise the public that although this gentleman has not been convicted of any criminal charges for these business propositions, he is currently under investigation. The RCMP encourages members of the public to discuss any such business propositions with a financial consultant before initiating any transactions of this nature.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Lloydminster Rural or Maidstone RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267) or 306-893-4800 or you may call Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), through SaskTel Mobility Network at *8477, or submit a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
