It’s that time again: The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Bowl For Kid’s Sake wrapped up on Sunday, raising a total of $31, 000 for Humboldt BBBS. The money will be used for every aspect of BBBS, including in-school mentoring, Go Girls! Mentoring, and more.

“We still have pledges trickling in online and off-line,”  said Stacey Poss, marketing and recruitment co-ordinator for the Humboldt and area BBBS. ”Everybody had such a wonderful time. We’re so grateful to live in such a wonderful community. It was awesome to say hello to everyone and for those we didn’t know to introduce ourselves.”

By now, residents are probably familiar with how the fundraiser works. Teams register with BBBS and then start collecting pledges. In return, the team receives two free games at Kemway Lanes. This year marks the 34th year of the fundraiser, and Kemway Lanes has been involved since the beginning. This year, [NUMBER] of people registered.

Different groups and businesses have been challenging each other such as Discovery Ford and Colony Products, Humboldt’s farm dealerships, and different area Cadet chapters. There is also a silent auction, and Poss said that businesses have been “awesome” in supporting the event.

“We’re having a lot of fun with it this year,” Poss said.

Humboldt’s BBBS serves 43 kids in the community. Poss said that it’s important to have the program in the community to help local kids.

“It adds quality of life,” she said. “Every child gets the opportunity to reach their full potential. Mentors can really help us work through some of that.”

In addition to the free games, BBBS is offering various prizes.

This year saw 44 teams and 310 bowlers participate in the event.
