Update: Two emergency service workers received minor injuries battling the fire Tuesday night, said City of Lloydminster Communications Coordinator Eric Healy. No occupants or bystanders were injured.
Healy told SASKTODAY.ca that the cause of the fire is under investigation. He said a call that there was a fire in the 5300 block of 49 Avenue came in at 10:28 p.m. on Oct. 4.
Nineteen firefighters and eight pieces of apparatus responded and all utility companies and RCMP were on scene, said Healy.
Firefighter crews started to leave at about 3 a.m. with the remaining leaving at 4:30 a.m.
"Two houses were involved in the fire, and backyard damages extended to a third property," said Healy. "The third house was inspected today and is believed not to have suffered any damages."
LLOYDMINSTER - A fire has destroyed one and possibly up to three homes in Lloydminster overnight.
Flames could be seen north of the railway tracks along Highway 17 that divides Saskatchewan and Alberta. Residents say at least three homes have been destroyed. They are also saying that so far all residents and animals have gotten out of the homes safely. Residents are also saying it's on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster. This hasn't been confirmed.
One resident posted on social media that police officers knocked on his door at about 11 p.m. on Oct. 4 and told them to evacuate their home. It isn't known how many homes have been evacuated or how many homes caught fire.
The City of Lloydminster Communications Coordinator Eric Healy told SASKTODAY.ca that they are currently in discussions with Fire Chief Leigh Sawicki to discuss if there were injuries and how many homes were affected and an update will be provided as soon as possible.
