BUH announces winners of annual lottery

The BUH Foundation's lottery volunteers drew names from an enormous steel drum Nov. 14, to determine who would win the large and small cash prizes. Winning the $100,000 prize were Alford and Phyllis Von Grad, of Goodsoil.

The BUH Foundation's lottery volunteers drew names from an enormous steel drum Nov. 14, to determine who would win the large and small cash prizes.

Winning the $100,000 prize were Alford and Phyllis Von Grad, of Goodsoil.

Elaine Marchewka of Battleford took home the $49,077.50 50/50 prize.

Elie Martel of Carlyle won the $10,000 early bird prize and Sharon Anderson and Kerry Clay of Saskatoon won the $10,000 previous purchase prize. BUH admitting staff won the $20,000 for 20 years prize.

There were also 20 draws for $2,000. Winning these were James Jeffrey of Battleford, Lindsay Woodrow of North Battleford, Victoria and Alvin Kahi of Glenbush, Darcy Peterson of Battleford, Jane Nielsen of North Battelford, Ted and Donna Nash of Glaslyn, Dorothy Schlekewy of St. Walburg, Neil and Leslee Clark of North Battleford, Perry Hellofs, Dave McMaster, Jodi Lewis and Diane Becotte of North Battleford, Stacie Churchill of North Battleford, Jason Schmaltz of Battleford, Lorrine Moek of Kerrobert, Carry and Beverly Kraft of Unity, Bob and Pat Stuart of Glaslyn, Adele Feschuk of Meota, Beverly-Ann Day of North Battleford, Jo-anne and Dennis Higgs of Battleford, Elizabeth Breker of North Battleford and finally Dave and Dianne Owen of Battleford.

A total of 11,508 tickets were sold for the lottery, which is in its 18th year. The total of $189,471 that was raised will go to a large variety of equipment for all parts of the hospital. The women's health and birthing centre is expecting to see more births in the future, and will receive a new infant incubator, epidural pump and stretcher. The third floor medicine and palliative care division will receive a Bladderscan ultrasound system to monitor and assess a patient without invasive procedures, and an infra-red vein viewer.

The emergency room department, which received 35,000 visits last year, will receive an ice machine/water dispenser, LED lights for the examination and trauma room and a Med Dispense medication dispensing system for secure dispensing of medication when a pharmacist is not available. The BUH is only the second hospital in Saskatchewan to receive the technology.
