The 2013-14 Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Monthly Lottery tickets will go on sale starting next week.
Volunteers will begin selling the tickets beginning Tuesday at BUH Main Lobby.
Tickets at $104.00 each, with only 1,200 being sold.
A total of 158 draws will be made to award $50,000 in cash prizes, with the draws made over a period of 12 months.
Among the draws this year will be a $1,000 previous purchaser draw made Wednesday, April 10, with qualifying ticket buyers needing to purchase their tickets by 5 p.m. Friday, April 5. Early bird ticket purchasers who buy tickets prior to 5 p.m. Friday, April 12 will be eligible for an additional chance at $1,000 to be drawn Wednesday, April 17.
Following these two preliminary draws, monthly draws take place on the last Wednesday of every month starting April 24. The only exception is the December draw, which will be Dec. 18.
Thirteen prizes totalling $4,000 are to be awarded every month, including a top prize of $1,000, second prize of $600, third prize of $400 and 10 additional prizes each at $200.
Proceeds for the 2013-14 lottery will go to the purchase of the camera component for one of two sterile work areas of the Misterium Modular Clean Room. That state-of-the-art area is located in the pharmacy department at BUH.
It is described as the first of its kind to be installed anywhere in Canada. According to the BUH Foundation news release, "the clean room will meet the ongoing challenge of ensuring medication accuracy and safety in both the preparation and labelling of chemotherapy and intravenous drugs, and offer a high level of quality assurance and expertise for chemotherapy patients at BUH."
