"Really? Are you kidding me?" was Huguette Johnson's wary response when she was called at her work to notify her that she, her husband Dale and his son Don's ticket had been drawn and they had won the $20,000 Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Cash Lotto Early Bird draw.

The draw was made Oct. 19.

Like many faithful supporters of the $100,000 Cash Lottery, now in its 17th year, the Johnsons have supported BUH through the purchase of the cash lottery tickets, the foundation's major fundraiser.

Proceeds for the 2011 lottery have been allocated to purchase equipment for the respiratory and therapy departments as well as the laboratory department.

Sales for the $100,000 grand prize tickets wrap up Friday at 5 p.m. There are also 20 draws for $2,000. Tickets are available at BUH main lobby or by calling 446-6652 or 1-888-946-4284. There is also a jackpot of $29,500 (and climbing) with the 50/50 add-ons.
