Building permit values for June are way down despite a small increase in the number of permits issued.
A total of 18 permits were issued for $418,100 in June, compared to 17 issued for $4,258,500 in June 2012.
There simply were no big-ticket items to report in June's permit report compiled by building inspector Jerry Wintonyk and submitted to council July 22.
The June 2012 permit values had included a new condo permit for $1,556,000, two commercial alterations for $1,725,000 and two new dwellings for $584,000.
Those same categories saw steep value declines this year, though. In June there were three commercial alterations for $81,500, one new dwelling permit for $86,000, and "nil" reported in the new condo category.
The June numbers also saw one garage/carport permit for $30,000, 10 residential alterations for $74,600, one sign permit for $1,000 and two removal/demolitions for $144,000.
Overall 39 permits have been issued for $8,739,900 through June 2013, compared to 66 for $19,468,900 issued for the same period in 2012.
In addition to the permit numbers, one building plan was presented to council: that being for the cabinet manufacturing shop at Bernier Millwork Ltd. at 2511 Commerce Drive.
The previous building was destroyed by a major fire last fall.
The new shop is 6,592 square feet plus a 1,260 square foot interior mezzanine for a estimated value of $600,000.
