Several members of Sakewew High School Gay-Straight Alliance were at council to spread awareness of Pink Revolution Anti-Bullying Week, happening March 28 to April 5.

The week will also involve the students of the three city high schools Sakewew, North Battleford Comprehensive High School and John Paul II Collegiate, who will be uniting to take a stand against bullying. Chief Little Pine and Poundmaker schools will also be taking part.

Activities planned for the week kick off on March 28 with a kick-off presentation with Jessica Yee at 2pm and te showing of the movie "Bully" at Sakewew High School.

Activities on March 29 include the raising of a pink flag at city hall at 10 am, a kick-off presentation at 2:25pm, and the showing of the film "Tears for Bobby" at both North Battleford library at 7:30pm on March 29 and then at Sakewew High School on March 30 at 2:25 pm.

A major activity is set for April 4, which is set to be a Day of Pink where everyone wears pinks. A Pink Day March and concert will take place at Sakewew at 11:30am, which will involve the three area high schools as well as Chief Little Pine and Poundmaker schools.

The week of activities wraps up April 5 with the showing of the movie Bully at Sakewew High School at 2:25 pm.

The activities are designed, say the participants, to "spread the message that bullying, violence, discrimination and homophobia are not okay," according to the Sakewew High School Gay Straight Alliance.

Mayor Ian Hamilton voiced support for their efforts on Monday nights, congratulating the students on their efforts and collaboration for a worthy cause.
