The site of the now decommissioned Kinsmen Aquatic Centre will be the site of a new retirement complex under development by Caleb Group.

The Caleb Group, which builds retirement communities across Canada, was in North Battleford Sept. 10 to talk to residents about their plans for a building here.

Planned for a November 2013 completion, the facility is set to be located where the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre and tennis courts are currently.

According to Caleb Group employees at the open house, the event was well attended, with many people putting down deposits on units.

Caleb currently operates retirement communities in nine cities across Canada, including in Kindersley, Humboldt, Tisdale and Melville.

Residents at the new facility will have the option of renting or purchasing a residence, which can be a studio, one bedroom or two bedroom unit. The facility has a total of 94 units available. Meant to cater to people with varying degrees of independence, residents will be able to take advantage of weekly housekeeping and a linen/towel service or take advantage of in-suite laundry machines. Residents will have access to a 24-hour bistro, but suites will also be equipped with full kitchens.

For entertainment, the facility will have a library, craft and game areas and a TV area for residents to socialize.

The building will also be wheelchair accessible, with two elevators, slip-resistant floors and 24-hour emergency response pendants.
