Canada Day in the Battlefords

There will be things to do on Canada Day in the Battlefords. The main activities will take place at Fort Battleford starting at 10 a.m. There will be activities for the youngsters with “tattoos,” dress-up and other kid-friendly events.

There will be things to do on Canada Day in the Battlefords.

The main activities will take place at Fort Battleford starting at 10 a.m. There will be activities for the youngsters with “tattoos,” dress-up and other kid-friendly events.

In addition, the historic buildings will be open to visit and at noon, there will be a cake-cutting ceremony. Look for a flag raising and the singing of O Canada. The firing of the cannon should take place at 3 p.m., with the festivities closing down about 4 p.m.

There will be free admission to the fort on Canada Day.

If you want to head up to the Battlefords Provincial Park, or if you are already there, there will be a sandcastle building contest at 10 a.m. and cake at noon.

To cap off the day, the City of North Battleford will be putting on a fireworks display at King Hill at 10:45 p.m., weather permitting.

Canada turns 152 this year.
