Canada Post offers free mail forwarding to evacuees

Canada Post is offering free Mail Forwarding for 12 months to residents of Canoe Narrows, Cole Bay, Patuanak and Beauval affected by wildfires.

Mail Forwarding is a critical service that ensures the continuity of mail delivery and provides a vital link to government and relief agencies.

NORTH — Canada Post has issued a statement that residents of Canoe Narrows, Cole Bay and Patuanak will receive free mail forwarding service starting July 28. 

Impacted residents have until Aug. 28 to register for the free service, which can last for up to 12 months. 

In the statement, Canada Post said: “Important information for customers affected by wildfires in Saskatchewan. Wildfires are affecting mail and parcel delivery in certain communities. Canada Post has implemented contingency measures to serve residents of these communities and to keep them connected.” 

Mail for residents of Canoe Narrows (S0M 0K0), Cole Bay (S0M 0M0) and Patuanak (S0M 2H0) is available for pickup at the Lloydminster Post Office, 4616 49th Avenue, Sask., S9V 0A0. The office is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Residents must present valid government-issued photo identification to pick up their mail. 

In addition, Canada Post announced that, effective July 15, residents of Beauval (S0M 0G0) are also eligible for the same 12-month free mail forwarding service. 

Canada Post offers free mail forwarding during emergencies such as wildfires, floods or evacuations, helping residents stay connected when they're displaced from their homes.
