Those looking to something to do in Carrot River can stop at the Community Hall Sept. 9 and join a local group.

CARROT RIVER — Preschools, sports and clubs will be set up at Carrot River’s Community Hall for community members to browse and register to join.

Some groups in confirmed attendance include KidSport, yoga, Blessing’s, Curious Kidz Preschool, Kuro Tora Karate, Skate Carrot River, and Carrot River Light Horse 4-H.

“It offers people an opportunity to do one-stop registration for fall and winter programming. A lot of times there are multiple children in one family and this makes it easy for everybody,” said Miranda Blaber, Carrot River’s community development manager.

“Also it serves a dual purpose, it’s a way to inform people of clubs and organizations – what they’re up to, if they’re looking for more members, that kind of thing.”

Blaber said that most of the clubs are focused on youth, which was what registration night was designed for when they began it a number of years ago, but adult programming is offered as they have it.

“It started primarily as youth sports, but then it kind of morphed into other organizations as well, and then we slipped into some adult programming, and this year we’re really encouraging people to come,” she said.

“Especially since we’re coming back off a year where a lot of people didn’t do a whole lot, a lot programming was put on hold so this is a great year to come and re-engage with the community.”

Fall club registration night will take place Sept. 9 at 7 to 8 p.m.

Tables may be booked by calling Blaber at the town office at 306-768-2501 during business hours. The town asks that bookings occur before Sept. 3.
