CARROT RIVER — This year’s Carrot River Outback KCRA rodeo is scheduled for mid-July, which Shannon Dickey, director from the rodeo committee, said is to allow families to plan their summer holidays around visiting the event.

“The previous two rodeos we held in August, so we’re really excited for this new date,” Dickey said. “We’ve been on a two year break, along with a lot of other events.”

The rodeo will be making use of their new arena just outside of the Outback corral at the Carrot River Valley Sports Grounds, which Dickey said will allow for better seating at the event which had upwards of 1,000 people each day pre-pandemic.

“We expect to have that many people, if not more this summer,” she said.

“It just gives us a more open feel, better spacing, better seating, it’s just going to be bigger and better was the whole reason for moving the arena.”

Events will include bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, bronc riding, steer roping and more, with wild pony races that children may sign up for.

The rodeo will be held on July 16 and 17. Tickets may be pre-purchased from the event’s website at outbackrodeo.com or purchased at the gate.

On the night of July 16, a cabaret will be held featuring Final Warning.

“If you’ve never been to our area, we have some amazing camping opportunities at Pasquia Regional Park, there’s a lot of things for you to stay or do, Tobin Lake isn’t very far away. You can really make this a whole family excursion and take part in the rodeo.”

Any businesses wishing to become sponsors or take part in the event are asked to contact Christine Trombley at 306-768-7901.
