There were more adjournments in the case against an Onion Lake woman accused of killing an Onion Lake man.
Shari Heathen, 27, was scheduled to elect how she wants to be tried on Nov. 23 but the matter was adjourned to Dec. 21 in Lloydminster Provincial Court.
Heathen is charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Braeden Alfred James Sparvier, 26, whose body was found Jan. 1, 2020, along a road in the R.M. of Frenchman Butte, which borders Onion Lake Cree Nation.
According to Sparvier’s obituary, he was born and raised in Regina and moved to Onion Lake Cree Nation with family in his late teens.
His obituary described him as “selfless and (he) put everyone first.” It went on to say that he was “so loving, kind, gentle and happy. He had a smile that would light up any room and he had the most contagious laugh.”
The RCMP Major Crimes North unit arrested Heathen in July after a seven-month investigation.
RCMP say the investigation into Sparvier’s death is ongoing and they encourage anyone with information to call Turtleford RCMP at 306-845-4520. Information may also be submitted anonymously to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitting a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
