Chamber gears up for Anderson and Cooper

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce is preparing for two major speakers' events this fall, in September and October.

The first event is on September 27 when radio commentator Eric Anderson will host an evening entitled: Saskatchewan's Role in the World: Food and Energy, What is the Impact on the Battlefords?

The event is slated for the Chapel Gallery at 7pm. Tickets are $20 per person and can be reserved by calling 445-6226 or by email b.chamber@sasktel.net. The deadline to reserve tickets is Sept. 22.

Anderson hosts a daily 60-second radio commentary on business topics over Rawlco Radio's stations in Saskatchewan. At the monthly Battlefords Chamber board meeting on Tuesday, director Paul Sayers noted the presentation will be directed to people in the Battlefords.

"Anybody that has some sort of interest in the Battlefords should be there, because this is going to impact the Battlefords," said Sayers.

He noted most of the costs are covered for the event and Sayers expects the Anderson event will be a moneymaker for the Chamber. Plenty of tickets are available.

October will see the major educational event on the Chamber calendar for 2011, entitled the Business Event of the Year, featuring Canadian-based international business speaker Donald Cooper.

The event that the Chamber will be presenting on October 20th will be Cooper's "accelerate your business" small business boot camp, where participants will learn how to "sell more, manage smarter, grow your bottom line and have a life," according to the promotional materials.

There are sponsorship opportunities available for the event. A $2000 Platinum Sponsorship level allows 6 seats at the Boot Camp for the sponsor as well as five other invited staff or guests, with four of those spots available for that. There are also 14 spots available for a $1000 Gold Sponsorship level, which also allows 6 seats at the boot camp for the sponsor and five other invited staff or guests. The estimated value is $750 for both.

Both levels also include attendance at a special sponsors-only small-group session with Cooper. The Platinum level also includes a one-hour private consultation with Cooper on Friday, October 21.

Sayers touted these sponsorship opportunities as a chance to enable staff members or employees to go to an event that they normally wouldn't be able to attend.

Some local businesses have already come on board as sponsor, he said.

Those interested in the Cooper presentation are encouraged to contact Paul Sayers at 445-5777, Randy Graham at 446-9236, Malcolm Anderson at 446-8877 or Rory Anderson at 445-8128 for more information.
