Some changes have been announced in the award categories for the Battlefords Business Excellence Awards taking place later this year.
There will be seven categories of awards handed out, but the Export Achievement category has been replaced this year with a Micro Business (fewer than five employees) category.
The BBEX committee says the new Micro Business category will "highlight and award excellence for a small storefront or home based business that has demonstrated significant business achievement, sustainable performance, a high level of customer service, innovation, unique differentiation and community involvement."
It was felt the category would highlight the growth and development of many new and strong business ventures in the community.
The other categories will continue to be New Business Venture, Customer Service, Marketing, Heritage, Community Contribution and Business of the Year.
Winners will be announced Oct. 2 at the gala awards ceremony, slated for the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts.
Nomination kits are now available online at http://www.battlefordschamber.com/connection/bbex.html. Deadline for nomination submissions will be Friday, July 26. Kits may also be picked up at the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce offices at the corner of Highway 16 and 40 East, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
