Charges dismissed against man accused of armed robbery, aggravated assault

Cook was accused of assaulting a man and stealing his vehicle in an RV park near Prince Albert New Year's Day

PRINCE ALBERT – All charges were dropped against a man charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

A trial was scheduled for Durwin Fenton Cook in Prince Albert Provincial Court on April 12 but didn’t proceed. Instead, Crown Prosecutor Maureen Longworth dismissed the charges against Cook. The Crown doesn’t have to tell the court why charges are being dismissed. Court documents, however, reveal that the Crown called no evidence and charges were dismissed “for want of prosecution.”

Cook was arrested in connection to an incident on Jan. 1. Police say they received a call about an assault at the RV park when a man allegedly assaulted another man and stole his vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
