On December 8, the auction for Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery's 12th annual Festival of Wreaths brought a crowd of shoppers and supporters out to place bids on the 117 donated items. Father and son auctioneers Bud and Brian Guenther of Lanigan led the bidding with Humboldt Broncos team members bringing the items up on stage to display to the public. This year, the auction brought in $6,300 - an increase of five per cent over 2010's figure of $6,000.

On December 8, a crowd of supporters and shoppers gathered at the Humboldt Mall to view and bid on a wide choice of items donated by businesses in the community and friends of the museum.
It was the 12th year for the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery's (HDMG) Festival of Wreaths live auction.
"It used to be that the items were almost all wreaths," Jennifer Hoesgen, curator of the HDMG, said, "but over the years it has evolved to include many different kinds of items that make great Christmas gifts."
This year, there was a slight hitch in the plans when Hoesgen found out that the auctioneer who usually runs the auction was scheduled for an operation on the same day.
Luckily, she found father and son auctioneers Bud and Brian Guenther of Lanigan who volunteered to step in for the event.
Between the silent auction and the bidded auction items, a total of $6,300 was raised for the museum from 117 donated items. Last year the auction raised $6,000.
Hoesgen says she plans to use the money towards the renovations that have begun in the Merchant's Bank of Canada building on Main Street, across from the HDMG, and home to a future exhibiting space for the museum.
