The City of Humboldt has accepted the resignation of Steve Brown, director of finance, from the municipal organization. Brown's final day of work with the City is May 28. He will be joining the City of Prince Albert's senior management team as director of corporate services on June 2.

Since November 2011, Brown has worked on policies and overseen procedures to improve the City's operations, transparency and accountability including: implementing a new financial management system for the City that replaced an aging system; developing process changes for municipal purchasing that has resulted in significant savings; overseeing technology improvements such as a new, organization-wide phone system that has reduced costs and improved productivity; assisting with asset management planning and procedures for the City's critical infrastructure; and initiating regional discussion with other municipalities surrounding infrastructure, planning and group purchasing.

"My family and I have enjoyed living in Humboldt," said Brown. "And I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity over the past couple of years to work with many dedicated residents, businesses and not-for-profits."
