Leisure services facilities in the city of North Battleford are remaining open, at least for now.

The city issued a news release Monday stating they are “working with its Pandemic Plan to ensure the continuation of priority services. The city also states it is “following the lead of the province and have implemented a maximum of 200 patrons at our leisure services facilities so that we never exceed the 250 maximum of attendees at public events, set by the minister of health. The city is following the expertise and medical experts’ advice on all matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Leisure Services also has posed a notice which reads, “Please be sdvised: City of North Battleford Leisure facilities will continue regular operation with maximum patron counts unless advised otherwise by the Saskatchewan health authorities. We are working to ensure the safety of patrons during this period. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, please refrain from visiting our facilities. Thank you for your co-operation.”

It should be noted the steam room at the aquatic centre is closed until further notice, but the facilities remain open.

While municipal leisure facilities remain open in North Battleford, other cities in the province are announcing facility closures. Regina has announced several closures effective Tuesday — all ice arenas including Brandt Centre and Co-operators Centre, the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre, two leisure centres, the Sportsplex field house and aquatic centre, neighbourhood centres and all Regina Public Library locations.

Meanwhile Saskatoon announced several closures that took effect Monday — six leisure centres including the Shaw Centre, field house and Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre, five indoor rinks, three outdoor rinks and the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.
