It has been announced that Finance Manager, Fazal Quadri, and Community and Leisure Services Director, Darrell Lessmeister, will both be leaving the city’s employ, Quadri on Oct. 14 and Lessmeister on Nov. 11.

It was announced publicly at the Oct. 6 city council meeting as well as through a press release on the morning of Oct. 7.

Both are pursuing other career opportunities with Quadri leaving for Regina, and Lessmeister leaving for a senior position with the County of Lac La Biche, AB.

“Over the last 11 years, I’ve enjoyed working with a great community and the many community organizations,” said Lessmeister in the city press release, “The level of commitment by many of the staff and organizations here will help the city continue to offer quality programs and services to residents.”

“My thanks to the organization and residents of Humboldt,” said Quadri in the city press release, “as I’ve appreciated the opportunity to live in and contribute to the community during my time here.”

City Manager, Roy Hardy, says it is a great loss for the city and the team and both Quadri and Lessmeister have contributed greatly to the City of Humboldt.

“They’ve done yeoman work in getting things organized in order, they’ve come on and worked well as a team of senior managers who has that understanding of what we’re trying to accomplish, and both of them has contributed greatly to the organization.”

Hardy says he knows that this was not an easy decision for Quadri and Lessmeister but it was a decision made to better themselves.

With two senior staff leaving closely together, Hardy says it is going to be a period of adjustment  but their staff are still going to be here and filling in the gap until their positions can be filled.
