The City of North Battleford has had enough of drivers who are driving through the barricades in city work zones.

In a news release, the city says special constables and the Department of Public Works and Engineering will be keeping an eye out for drivers who do not respect barricades in those work zones.

According to Special Constable Ross MacAngus, it is a safety issue.

"Unfortunately, there are drivers out there who choose to drive around and through blocked sections of street that have been barricaded and blocked off for safety reasons," said MacAngus. "They put themselves and our on-site City staff at risk."

Tickets are being sent in the mail after receiving licence plate numbers and vehicle descriptions of vehicles found in violation of the bylaw. The owner of a vehicle in violation receives a $100 ticket. Violators can also be charged under the Provincial Highway Traffic Act with fines there ranging between $280 and $500.
