Classic cars to raise funds

Classic cars parked outside an A&W is something you would expect to see in an old photo. For residents of Humboldt, May 15 might have seemed like a blast from the past, as Humboldt A&W hosted the first of four Cruisin’ the Dub Car Shows in 2018.

Each of the four shows hosted in Humboldt will do so to raise money for various charities, says manager Joe Larocque.

“It’s a nice way to get people out and together to see some cool cars.”

The first cause was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, an organization Larocque says means a lot to many of the employees of Humboldt A&W.

“It’s something that closely affects quite a few of the staff here. Our head supervisor, her daughter has juvenile diabetes so it affects more people, here at least, than we would like.”

The show featured cars from the 1960s and earlier, including Oldsmobile and Chevrolet.

While the calendar is still in May, A&W enjoyed an excellent evening, with temperatures sitting in the 20s with bright sunny skies.

“Very happy it didn’t rain. Melfort’s car show last week it ended up raining so it’s nice, it’s beautiful (here),” noted Larocque.

The Humboldt A&W will look to make it two perfect nights in a row when they host their second Cruisin’ the Dub Car Show of the year on June 19.
