TISDALE — Community efforts have begun to fundraise for the family who lost their possessions in a Tisdale fire.

The Tisdale Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Wicks' Mobile Home Park at about 5 p.m. on March 1.

At the time of arrival the mobile home was completely engulfed in flames.

The department used water and foam from the outside of the building, until no fire was visible and they could enter the structure.

It took the department about two hours to completely extinguish the home.

“It was bad,” said Brian Minhinnick, Tisdale’s fire chief. “The trailer will be a total loss, the damage inside was quite extensive.”

He said that the cause of the fire is not yet known.

The family who was renting the mobile home lost two dogs and all their possessions.

Tisdale Fields and Tisdale Dairy Queen have begun accepting donations for the family, as well as A&W stores out of Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin.  In addition, A&W are raffling off a Roughrider cooler with all proceeds going to the family.

Relatives of the family are planning a roast beef dinner and silent auction fundraiser at Zarah’s Bar and Hotel for March 15.

Nadine Wickens, one of the event organizers, said silent auction items can be donated through A&W Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin.

Silent auction items can also be donated through Wickens at 289-228-9530 or Kristen Hawkins at 306-930-5226.

If an item is donated for the auction, Wickens recommended specifying that it's for the silent auction to avoid confusion.

A GoFundMe set up to accept donations to the family can be found at gofundme.com/f/sbpzw-trailer-fire.
