The Battlefords are still under a blowing snow warning with high wind gusts and some fresh snow falling.

The conditions hamper the efforts of snow removal and sanding crews, according to North Battleford City Hall. Drifts re-form quickly after being plowed and sand simply blows away

Marketing and Communications C-ordinator Mike Halstead says priorto ity for the City as long as the winds stay strong, is to keep major intersections and streets clear and barricade impassable streets and roads in open areas where drifts are four to six feet high. "Watch for barricades if you are out. Drive with patience and extreme caution," Halsteady advises.

RCMP report weather conditions have resulted in travel conditions not being safe through much of the province. Travel is not recommended on most roads with some being closed due to the blizzard. Overnight there were 127 calls reporting motor vehicle incidents throughout the province.

Many highways on the west side of the province have portions closed by the storm and all other highways should be treated as travel not recommended, the RCMP say.

As of 10:45 a.m. the storm had intensified and Environment Canada predicts the storm will persist into the evening. Emergency lines continue to be inundated with such calls and the RCMP is urging people to check the highways hotline online at http://hotline.gov.sk.ca .
