SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon has announced closures on several roads and streets starting Tuesday, July 30. If unforeseen circumstances do not occur, some projects are expected to end by the end of August.
On Tuesday morning, the road between 36th and 37th streets on 2nd Avenue North closed for unplanned water central repairs. The city will release an updated timeline for completing the work later this week.
The intersection at Melville Street and Portage Avenue will be closed beginning on Wednesday, July 31, at 7 a.m. for construction work. Weather permitting and barring unforeseen circumstances, this project will take three weeks to complete.
Idylwyld Drive North’s southbound lane from 31st Street West to 29th Street West will close at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, but will open for the long weekend. Traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes.
It will again be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 6, and construction is expected to end the next day.
Due to infrastructure improvements, the eastbound lane of 11th Street West from Crescent Boulevard to Fairlight Drive will also close at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31. The project is expected to be completed on Monday, Aug. 12.
Due to service installations, the Brighton Boulevard and Taskamanwa Street roundabout will be closed on Wednesday, July 31, starting at 7 a.m. The road is expected to open on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m.
Nightwork will continue at Circle Drive East and Westbound median lanes from Preston Avenue North to Spadina Crescent East because of bridge washing. It will only be an overnight closure from Wednesday, July 31, at 8 a.m. and ends on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6 a.m.
Detours will be in place to guide motorists around the work zones, which may affect Saskatoon Transit’s bus routes. Third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on the desktop provide transit service alerts and real-time bus information.
