Corn roast celebrates the harvest

The Maidstone Museum annual corn and hot dog roast was held Labour Day from 4 to 7 p.m. It was enjoyed by more than 80 who attended on a perfect September harvest day.

It was enjoyed by more than 80 who attended on a perfect September harvest day. Museum members set up numerous tables in the old kitchen and outside prior to the occasion.

Appreciation is expressed to all who donated to or worked at this event. Lewis and Lori Wikinson cooked the corn and hot dogs.

The regular visiting hours at the museum are over for the season, but there are several persons who can be contacted for guided tours until snowfall. They are Mae Hinde 893-4030, Francis Peterson 893-4483 or Dorothy Schwartz 893-2663. Bill McGillvary will be working at the museum repairing buildings and performing other maintenance jobs and would appreciate any help the public can provide. A few hours or a day or two would be much appreciated. Contact him at 893-4078 to let him know which days you can help.
