A couple appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Monday after being arrested in a high-risk takedown by the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) Oct. 23.

Rocky Fiddler and Lana Aubichon, both 36, are facing numerous charges after a man was allegedly held at gunpoint, assaulted, threatened and robbed.

Police say that they received a call on Oct. 22 at about 7:15 p.m. that a man was assaulted and robbed at a residence in Meadow Lake.  He received serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

RCMP identified two suspects they believed to be armed with a firearm. The Saskatchewan RCMP ERT was called to assist with a high-risk search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of 7 Street West in Meadow Lake to locate the suspects. The RCMP ERT are a group of highly trained officers that use specialized weapons, equipment and tactics to resolve extremely high-risk situations. The ERT deals with extreme danger that can’t be easily resolved by general duty RCMP officers. ERT officers have access to more firearms than the standard-issue sidearm pistols general duty RCMP officers have, including an MP5 submachine gun, sniper rifle, assault rifle, and shotguns.

The RCMP arrested seven people at the residence without incident. Two were released without being charged. Two other men and a woman are facing charges unrelated to the robbery and assault of the victim.

During their search police found ammunition, a quantity of controlled substances and a number of items allegedly linking Fiddler and Aubichon to the armed robbery and assault.  Aubichon was charged with robbery with a firearm, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and uttering threats. She also had outstanding warrants at the time. Fiddler was charged with robbery with a firearm, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.

The RCMP arrested the couple and they remained in custody until their appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Oct. 26 when they were released. They are now scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Nov. 23 to enter pleas and elect how they want to be tried.
