Couple facing weapons, drug charges appear in La Ronge court

LA RONGE – A couple from Lac La Ronge Indian Band facing weapons and drug related offences had more court appearances.

Floyd Ratt, 33, and Mary Johnson, 28, both appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court Nov. 29.

Ratt and Johnson were arrested after La Ronge RCMP raided a trap line on Molansoa Road south of La Ronge on Aug. 5. They searched a camper and seized three firearms, ammunition, 30 grams of cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Ratt was charged with 22 firearms related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime, and four counts of failing to comply with release order.

Johnson was charged with 12 weapons related offences, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property under than $5,000 obtained by crime, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order

Ratt remains in custody and appears again Dec. 3 to speak to his matters and Dec. 13 to enter a plea.

Johnson is out on bail and is back in court Dec. 13 to enter an election.
